Florida Senate - 2022 SB 1804 By Senator Jones 35-01366-22 20221804__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to fees; amending s. 943.0425, F.S.; 3 requiring an animal abuser to pay a specified fee upon 4 registration and annual renewal with the animal abuser 5 registry; providing for the distribution of funds; 6 providing a contingent effective date. 7 8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subsection (3) of section 11 943.0425, Florida Statutes, as created by SB ____, 2022 Regular 12 Session, is amended to read: 13 943.0425 Animal abuser registration.— 14 (3) 15 (c) A registered abuser shall personally appear at the 16 sheriff’s office in the county in which he or she resides to 17 renew his or her registration information annually on the 18 anniversary date of his or her initial registration or, if his 19 or her anniversary date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal 20 holiday, on the first business day following his or her 21 anniversary date. At such time, the registered abuser’s 22 photograph and information shall be reviewed to verify accuracy. 23 The abuser shall pay a fee of $25 for initial registration and 24 each annual renewal with the registry. The sheriff’s office 25 shall retain $10 of each fee collected, and the remainder shall 26 be forwarded monthly to the department to help pay the 27 administrative and maintenance costs of maintaining the 28 registry. 29 Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date that 30 SB ____ or similar legislation takes effect, if such legislation 31 is adopted in the same legislative session or an extension 32 thereof and becomes a law.
