Florida Senate - 2022 CS for SB 754 By the Committee on Transportation; and Senator Gainer 596-01392-22 2022754c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to mobile home registration periods; 3 amending s. 320.055, F.S.; revising the registration 4 and registration renewal periods for a mobile home 5 owned by a natural person; requiring the Department of 6 Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, beginning on a 7 specified date, to give customers the option to renew 8 their registrations on their dates of birth in certain 9 years; specifying permissible renewal periods for such 10 renewals; providing an effective date. 11 12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 14 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) and subsection 15 (2) of section 320.055, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: 16 320.055 Registration periods; renewal periods.—The 17 following registration periods and renewal periods are 18 established: 19 (1)(a) For a motor vehicle subject to registration under s. 20 320.08(1), (2), (3), (4)(a) or (b), (5)(b), (c), (d), or (f), 21 (6)(a), (7), (8), (9),or(10), or (11) and owned by a natural 22 person, the registration period begins the first day of the 23 birth month of the owner and ends the last day of the month 24 immediately preceding the owner’s birth month in the succeeding 25 year. If such vehicle is registered in the name of more than one 26 person, the birth month of the person whose name first appears 27 on the registration shall be used to determine the registration 28 period. For a vehicle subject to this registration period, the 29 renewal period is the 30-day period ending at midnight on the 30 vehicle owner’s date of birth. 31 (2) For a vehicle subject to registration under s. 32 320.08(11) and not owned by a natural person, the registration 33 period begins January 1 and ends December 31. For a vehicle 34 subject to this registration period, the renewal period is the 35 31-day period beforeprior toexpiration. 36 Section 2. Beginning September 1, 2023, in order to 37 implement the amendment made by this act to s. 320.055, Florida 38 Statutes, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles 39 shall give customers the option to renew their registrations on 40 their dates of birth in 2024 or 2025. Customers whose dates of 41 birth occur in the months of January through June may choose to 42 renew for 1 to 18 months. Customers whose dates of birth occur 43 in the months of July through December may choose to renew for 7 44 to 24 months. 45 Section 3. This act shall take effect September 1, 2023.
