    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Trust Fund for Victims of Human
    3         Trafficking; creating s. 787.063, F.S.; specifying the
    4         authorized uses of funds from the Trust Fund for
    5         Victims of Human Trafficking; providing a contingent
    6         effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Section 787.063, Florida Statutes, is created to
   11  read:
   12         787.063 Authorized uses of the Trust Fund for Victims of
   13  Human Trafficking.—Funds from the Trust Fund for Victims of
   14  Human Trafficking, created under s. 787.062, may be used for at
   15  least all of the following purposes:
   16         (1)Educating the public about the recruitment,
   17  trafficking, and exploitation of persons through human
   18  trafficking.
   19         (2)Assisting in the prevention of recruitment in Florida
   20  schools of minors for exploitation.
   21         (3)Establishing a survivors resource center to make
   22  available to survivors of human trafficking information about
   23  services and resources, including legal services, social
   24  services, safe harbors, safe houses, and language services.
   25         (4)Assisting in the coordination between law enforcement
   26  agencies and service providers.
   27         (5)Providing information concerning a petition for
   28  expunction of a criminal history record resulting from the
   29  arrest or filing of charges for an offense committed or reported
   30  to have been committed while the person was a victim of human
   31  trafficking which is filed pursuant to s. 943.0583.
   32         (6)Providing financial assistance for the cost of
   33  expunction of a criminal history record as provided in
   34  subsection (5).
   35         (7)Providing financial assistance for the cost of legal
   36  services to defend against criminal charges resulting from the
   37  arrest or filing of charges for an offense committed or reported
   38  to have been committed while the person was a victim of human
   39  trafficking.
   40         Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date that
   41  SB ___ or similar legislation takes effect, if such legislation
   42  is adopted in the same legislative session or an extension
   43  thereof and becomes a law.
