    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the wastewater grant program;
    3         amending s. 403.0673, F.S.; authorizing the Department
    4         of Environmental Protection to provide wastewater
    5         grant program grants to projects directed at or
    6         focused on a water body included on a specified list
    7         of impaired waters; providing an effective date.
    8          
    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 403.0673, Florida
   12  Statutes, is amended to read:
   13         403.0673 Wastewater grant program.—A wastewater grant
   14  program is established within the Department of Environmental
   15  Protection.
   16         (1) Subject to the appropriation of funds by the
   17  Legislature, the department may provide grants for all of the
   18  following projects that are within a basin management action
   19  plan, an alternative restoration plan adopted by final order, or
   20  a rural area of opportunity under s. 288.0656 or that are
   21  directed at or focused on a water body included on the verified
   22  list of impaired waters developed by the department pursuant to
   23  s. 403.067(4) which will individually or collectively reduce
   24  excess nutrient pollution:
   25         (a) Projects to retrofit onsite sewage treatment and
   26  disposal systems to upgrade such systems to enhanced nutrient
   27  reducing onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.
   28         (b) Projects to construct, upgrade, or expand facilities to
   29  provide advanced waste treatment, as defined in s. 403.086(4).
   30         (c) Projects to connect onsite sewage treatment and
   31  disposal systems to central sewer facilities.
   32         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023.
