House Comm: RCS . 04/04/2023 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Education Pre-K -12 (Calatayud) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 87 - 135 4 and insert: 5 (3)(a) Subject to legislative appropriation, the Department 6 of Education shall provide or fund professional development for 7 instructional personnel to earn an educator certificate in 8 computer science pursuant to s. 1012.56 or a technology-related 9 industry certification associated with a course identified in 10 the Course Code Directory pursuant to subsection (1) or for 11 professional development for instructional personnel to provide 12 instruction in computer science. Such funding must be used only 13 to: 14 1. Provide training pursuant to this paragraph for 15 instructional personnel. 16 2. Pay fees for examinations that lead to a credential for 17 instructional personnel. 18 3. Provide professional development for instructional 19 personnel. 20 (b) For purposes of this section, the term “instructional 21 personnel” has the same meaning as in s. 1012.01(2)(a), (b), and 22 (c). 23 (4)(a) Subject to legislative appropriation, a member of 24 the instructional personnel who was evaluated as effective or 25 highly effective pursuant to s. 1012.34 in the previous school 26 year or who is newly hired by the district school board and has 27 not been evaluated pursuant to s. 1012.34 must receive a bonus 28 as follows: 29 1. If the member of the instructional personnel holds an 30 educator certificate in computer science pursuant to s. 1012.56 31 or if he or she has passed the computer science subject area 32 examination and holds an adjunct certificate issued by a school 33 district pursuant to s. 1012.57, he or she must receive a bonus 34 of $1,000 after each year he or she completes teaching a 35 computer science course identified in the Course Code Directory 36 pursuant to subsection (1) at a public elementary, middle, high, 37 or combination school for up to 3 years. 38 2. If the member of the instructional personnel holds an 39 industry certification associated with a course identified in 40 the Course Code Directory pursuant to subsection (1), he or she 41 must receive a bonus of $500 after each year he or she completes 42 teaching the identified course at a public elementary, middle, 43 high, or combination school for up to 3 years. 44 (b) An eligible member of the 45 46 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 47 And the title is amended as follows: 48 Delete lines 20 - 22 49 and insert: 50 legislative appropriation, requiring the Department of 51 Education to provide funding for specified purposes;
