Senator Davis moved the following:
1 Senate Amendment to Amendment (495536) (with directory and
2 title amendments)

4 Delete lines 930 - 934
5 and insert:
6 (4)(a) The state board shall apply intensive intervention
7 and support strategies tailored to the needs of schools earning
8 two consecutive grades of “D” or a grade of “F.” In the first
9 full school year after a school initially earns a grade of “D,”
10 the school district must immediately implement intervention and
11 support strategies prescribed in rule under paragraph (3)(c).
12 For a school that initially earns a grade of “F” or a second
13 consecutive grade of “D,” the school district must either
14 continue implementing or immediately begin implementing
15 intervention and support strategies prescribed in rule under
16 paragraph (3)(c) and provide the department, by September 1,
17 with the memorandum of understanding negotiated pursuant to s.
18 1001.42(21) and, by October 1, a district-managed turnaround
19 plan for approval by the state board. The district-managed
20 turnaround plan may include a proposal for the district to
21 implement an extended school day, a summer program, a
22 combination of an extended school day and a summer program, or
23 any other option authorized under paragraph (b) for state board
24 approval. A school district is not required to wait until a
25 school earns a second consecutive grade of “D” to submit a
26 turnaround plan for approval by the state board under this
27 paragraph. Upon approval by the state board, the school district
28 must implement the plan for the remainder of the school year and
29 continue the plan for 4 1 full school years year. The state
30 board may allow a school an additional year of implementation
31 before the school must implement a turnaround option required
32 under paragraph (b) if the school earns a first grade of “C” or
33 higher after the fourth it determines that the school is likely
34 to improve to a grade of “C” or higher after the first full
35 school year of implementation.
36 (b) Unless an additional year of implementation is provided
37 pursuant to paragraph (a), A school that, during the completes a
38 plan cycle under paragraph (a), and does not improve to a grade
39 of “B” or higher or does not improve and maintain to a grade of
40 “C” for 2 consecutive years or higher must implement one of the
41 following:
