       The Committee on Judiciary (Torres) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Section 28.217, Florida Statutes, is created to
    6  read:
    7         28.217 Translation services.—
    8         (1) A court may contract with a third-party translation
    9  service provider for translation services for civil cases.
   10         (2) Translation services may be made available to any party
   11  requesting such services, regardless of whether the party is
   12  represented by counsel.
   13         (3) Nothing in this section may be construed to prohibit a
   14  party from providing for his or her own translation service or
   15  third-party translation service provider.
   16         (4) The provision of translation services under this
   17  section is an optional court-related function, and nothing in
   18  this section requires a court to provide such services.
   19         Section 4. This act shall take effect October 1, 2024.

   24  and insert:
   25                        A bill to be entitled                      
   26         An act relating to translation services; creating s.
   27         28.217, F.S.; authorizing courts to contract with a
   28         third-party translation service provider to provide
   29         translation services; providing that such services may
   30         be made available to any party requesting them,
   31         regardless of whether represented by counsel;
   32         providing construction; providing that a court is not
   33         required to provide translation services; providing an
   34         effective date.
