       The Committee on Rules (Yarborough) recommended the following:
       
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 24 - 32
    4  and insert:
    5  government, consolidated pursuant to s. 3 or s. 6(e), Art. VIII
    6  of the State Constitution or s. 9, Art. VIII of the State
    7  Constitution of 1885, as preserved by s. (6)(e), Art. VIII of
    8  the State Constitution.
    9         Section 2. Section 30.53, Florida Statutes, is amended to
   10  read:
   11         30.53 Independence of constitutional officials.—The
   12  independence of the sheriffs, including a sheriff in a
   13  consolidated government, consolidated pursuant to s. 3 or s.
   14  6(e), Art. VIII of the State Constitution or s. 9, Art. VIII of
   15  the State Constitution of 1885, as preserved by s. (6)(e), Art.
   16  VIII of the State Constitution, shall be preserved concerning
   17  the purchase and procurement of supplies and equipment,
