House Comm: RCS . 02/08/2024 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Finance and Tax (Polsky) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 14 - 25 4 and insert: 5 provide a form that a county property appraiser may use, at his 6 or her discretion, to provide a person with tentative 7 verification of that person’s eligibility to receive an 8 exemption or a discount under s. 196.081, s. 196.082, or s. 9 196.091, after submission by a person of the forms, 10 documentation, and other proof necessary to qualify for the 11 relevant exemption or discount after purchase of a homestead 12 property. The form must indicate that such tentative 13 verification of eligibility is not binding upon the county 14 property appraiser and that the person must comply with the 15 annual application requirements of s. 196.011 and the 16 requirements of s. 196.081, s. 196.082, or s. 196.091 in order 17 to receive the exemption or discount authorized by those 18 provisions. Decisions by a county property appraiser regarding 19 whether to consider a request for tentative verification of 20 eligibility for an exemption under this section; or a person’s 21 apparent eligibility to receive an exemption or a discount under 22 s. 196.081, s. 196.082, or s. 196.091 after submission by a 23 person of the forms, documentation, and other proof necessary to 24 qualify for the relevant exemption or discount after purchase of 25 a homestead property; are not subject to administrative or 26 judicial review under chapter 194. 27 28 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 29 And the title is amended as follows: 30 Delete lines 4 - 5 31 and insert: 32 requiring the Department of Revenue to provide a 33 specified form that county property appraisers may use 34 to provide tentative verification of persons’ 35 eligibility for specified exemptions after purchasing 36 homestead property; providing a requirement for such 37 form; providing that certain decisions are not subject 38 to administrative or judicial review;
