       The Committee on Rules (Rouson) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (933688) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete everything after the enacting clause
    5  and insert:
    6         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 836.12, Florida
    7  Statutes, is amended to read:
    8         836.12 Threats or harassment.—
    9         (3) Any person who knowingly and willfully harasses a law
   10  enforcement officer, a state attorney, an assistant state
   11  attorney, a firefighter, a judge, a justice, a judicial
   12  assistant, a clerk of court, clerk personnel, or an elected
   13  official, or an election official, with the intent to intimidate
   14  or coerce such a person to perform or refrain from performing a
   15  lawful duty, commits a misdemeanor of the first degree,
   16  punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
   17         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.

   20  And the title is amended as follows:
   21         Delete everything before the enacting clause
   22  and insert:
   23                        A bill to be entitled                      
   24         An act relating to harassment of election officials;
   25         amending s. 836.12, F.S.; prohibiting specified
   26         harassment of election officials with the intent to
   27         intimidate or coerce such persons to perform or
   28         refrain from performing a lawful duty; providing
   29         criminal penalties; providing an effective date.
