       The Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, Environment, and
       General Government (Simon) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 21 - 30
    4  and insert:
    5         (1) The use of lethal force to take a bear without a permit
    6  or authorization required under this chapter is justified if a
    7  person reasonably believes that using such force is necessary to
    8  protect his or her private property or to prevent imminent death
    9  or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another on his or
   10  her private property.
   11

   13  And the title is amended as follows:
   14         Delete lines 5 - 6
   15  and insert:
   16         authorizations under specified conditions; providing
   17         an exemption from penalties;
