    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the delivery of notices; amending
    3         s. 1.01, F.S.; revising the definition of the term
    4         “registered mail” for purposes of construction of the
    5         Florida Statutes; providing for construction and
    6         retroactive application; providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Subsection (11) of section 1.01, Florida
   11  Statutes, is amended to read:
   12         1.01 Definitions.—In construing these statutes and each and
   13  every word, phrase, or part hereof, where the context will
   14  permit:
   15         (11) The term words “registered mail” includes include
   16  certified mail with return receipt requested. The term also
   17  includes any delivery service by the United States Postal
   18  Service or a private delivery service that is regularly engaged
   19  in the delivery of documents which provides proof of mailing or
   20  shipping and proof of delivery.
   21         Section 2. The amendments made by this act to s. 1.01,
   22  Florida Statutes, are remedial in nature and apply
   23  retroactively.
   24         Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
