Senator Collins moved the following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete everything after the enacting clause
4 and insert:
5 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section
6 1012.55, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
7 1012.55 Positions for which certificates required.—
8 (2)(a)1. Each person who is employed and renders service as
9 an athletic coach in any public school in any district of this
10 state shall:
11 a. Hold a valid temporary or professional certificate or an
12 athletic coaching certificate. The athletic coaching certificate
13 may be used for either part-time or full-time positions.
14 b. Hold and maintain a certification in cardiopulmonary
15 resuscitation, first aid, and the use of an automatic external
16 defibrillator. The certification must be consistent with
17 national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care
18 guidelines.
19 2. The provisions of this subsection do not apply to any
20 athletic coach who voluntarily renders service and who is not
21 employed by any public school district of this state.
22 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.

29 An act relating to youth athletic activities; amending
30 s. 1012.55, F.S.; revising the requirements for
31 certain athletic coaches to include certification in
32 cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and the use
33 of an automatic external defibrillator; providing
34 requirements for such certification; providing an
35 effective date.
