House Comm: RCS . 03/11/2025 . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— The Committee on Governmental Oversight and Accountability (Gruters) recommended the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete everything after the enacting clause 4 and insert: 5 Section 1. (1) Each state agency as defined in s. 6 11.45(1), Florida Statutes, shall update its geographic 7 materials to reflect the new federal designation of the “Gulf of 8 Mexico” as the “Gulf of America.” 9 (2) Instructional materials as defined in s. 1006.28(1)(a), 10 Florida Statutes, and library media center collections adopted 11 or acquired on or after July 1, 2025, by a district school board 12 or charter school governing board must reflect the new federal 13 designation of the “Gulf of Mexico” as the “Gulf of America,” 14 when applicable. 15 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 16 17 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 18 And the title is amended as follows: 19 Delete everything before the enacting clause 20 and insert: 21 A bill to be entitled 22 An act relating to the Gulf of America; requiring 23 state agencies to update geographic materials to 24 reflect the new federal designation of the “Gulf of 25 Mexico” as the “Gulf of America”; requiring that 26 specified materials and collections adopted or 27 acquired by district school boards and charter school 28 governing boards on or after a specified date reflect 29 the new federal designation of the “Gulf of Mexico” as 30 the “Gulf of America”; providing an effective date.
