Floor: 1/AD/2R . 04/09/2025 05:00 PM . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senator Burgess moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 493 - 508 4 and insert: 5 (f) The Department of Education, in cooperation with the 6 Department of Management Services, shall identify a centralized 7 system for use by all public safety answering point 8 infrastructure which can receive alerts from all panic alert 9 systems and integrate digital maps used by public schools, 10 charter schools, and other educational institutions. The 11 centralized system must: 12 1. Receive alerts, location information, and relevant data 13 from all department-approved panic alert systems. 14 2. Integrate and display digital school maps to provide 15 real-time situational awareness to law enforcement and emergency 16 responders. 17 3. Retain and provide access to historical alert data for 18 use by authorized state agencies. 19 (g) Each public school and charter school shall confirm 20 with the district school board that the school’s respective 21 panic alert system is connected to the centralized system. Panic 22 alert systems must be integrated with the centralized system to 23 ensure seamless notification of law enforcement and emergency 24 responders.
