       The Committee on Health Policy (Rodriguez) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 12 - 22
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subsection (1) of section
    6  484.007, Florida Statutes, as amended by section 30 of chapter
    7  2024-243, Laws of Florida, is amended to read:
    8         484.007 Licensure of opticians; permitting of optical
    9  establishments.—
   10         (1) Any person desiring to practice opticianry shall apply
   11  to the department, upon forms prescribed by it, to take a
   12  licensure examination. The department shall examine each
   13  applicant who the board certifies meets all of the following
   14  criteria:
   15         (e)1. Has received an associate degree, or its equivalent,
   16  in opticianry from an educational institution the curriculum of
   17  which is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized and
   18  approved by the United States Department of Education or the
   19  Council on Postsecondary Education or approved by the board; or
   20         2. Has registered as an apprentice with the department and
   21  paid a registration fee not to exceed $60, as set by rule of the
   22  board. The apprentice shall complete 6,240 hours of training
   23  under the supervision of an optician licensed in this state for
   24  at least 1 year or of a physician or optometrist licensed under
   25  the laws of this state. These requirements must be met within 5
   26  years after the date of registration. However, any time spent in
   27  a recognized school may be considered as part of the
   28  apprenticeship program provided herein. The board may establish
   29  administrative processing fees sufficient to cover the cost of
   30  administering apprentice rules as promulgated by the board.

   35  and insert:
   36         An act relating to opticianry; amending s. 484.007,
   37         F.S.; revising the supervision requirements for the
   38         training of registered apprentices seeking licensure
   39         to practice opticianry;
