    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing April 2025 as “Springs
    3         Protection Awareness Month” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, Florida’s springs are essential to the
    6  environment, economy, residents, and visitors of this state, and
    7         WHEREAS, Florida has one of the most productive aquifers in
    8  the world, which supports more than 1,000 natural springs and
    9  gives this state one of the world’s highest concentrations of
   10  springs, and
   11         WHEREAS, Florida is home to 33 first-magnitude springs, and
   12         WHEREAS, the groundwater supply is vital to this state’s
   13  economy, and approximately 90 percent of Florida residents rely
   14  on it for their drinking water, and
   15         WHEREAS, Florida’s springs reflect groundwater conditions
   16  and provide an important habitat for wildlife, and
   17         WHEREAS, Florida’s springs provide recreational enjoyment
   18  for residents and attract visitors from all over the world, and
   19         WHEREAS, Florida’s springs discharge nearly 8 billion
   20  gallons of water each day, and healthy springs reflect this
   21  state’s commitment to sustainable groundwater and surface water
   22  resource protection, NOW, THEREFORE,

   24  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   25  
   26         That April 2025 is recognized as “Springs Protection
   27  Awareness Month” in Florida.
