    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing and honoring the
    3         accomplishments and contributions to this state and to
    4         the nation of United States Army General Bryan P.
    5         Fenton, 13th Commander of the United States Special
    6         Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.
    7  
    8         WHEREAS, U.S. Army General Bryan P. Fenton currently serves
    9  as the 13th Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command
   10  (USSOCOM) headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, and
   11  oversees all Special Operations for the U.S. Department of
   12  Defense, and
   13         WHEREAS, before assuming command of USSOCOM in August 2022,
   14  General Fenton served as Commander of the Joint Special
   15  Operations Command headquartered at Fort Liberty, North
   16  Carolina, and
   17         WHEREAS, General Fenton’s other general officer assignments
   18  have included Senior Military Assistant for two U.S. Secretaries
   19  of Defense; Deputy Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command;
   20  Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command — Pacific; and
   21  Deputy Commanding General — Operations, 25th Infantry Division,
   22  and
   23         WHEREAS, General Fenton’s key Army and Special Operations
   24  assignments have included Director of Operations at the Joint
   25  Special Operations Command; Brigade, Battalion, and Squadron
   26  Command; multiple overseas Task Force Commands; and assignments
   27  as a Detachment Commander and Operations Officer in 1st
   28  Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and
   29         WHEREAS, General Fenton’s deployments have included
   30  participating in Operation Joint Forge in Bosnia, Operation
   31  Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan/Africa, Operation Iraqi Freedom
   32  in Iraq, and Operation Pacific Eagle in the Philippines, and
   33         WHEREAS, General Fenton’s military training includes the
   34  U.S. Army Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the
   35  Special Forces Qualifications Course, the U.S. Army Ranger
   36  School, Special Forces Language training in Spanish, Special
   37  Forces Military Free Fall training, and Survival, Evasion,
   38  Resistance and Escape courses, and
   39         WHEREAS, General Fenton holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
   40  Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Notre
   41  Dame and a Master’s Degree from the U.S. Army Command and
   42  General Staff College, and was the 2009 Army Fellow at the Walsh
   43  School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University in Washington,
   44  D.C., and
   45         WHEREAS, General Fenton’s awards include the Cruz de la
   46  Victoria Medal from Chile, the Thai Jumpmaster Wings awarded by
   47  the Princess of Thailand, Notre Dame’s Moose Krause Service
   48  Award and its Rev. William Corby Award for Distinguished
   49  Military Service, and the Eisenhower Award from the Business
   50  Executives for National Security organization, and
   51         WHEREAS, in 2024, General Fenton worked with federal
   52  officials in this state to assist in recovery from Hurricanes
   53  Helene and Milton, NOW, THEREFORE,

   55  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   56  
   57         That the accomplishments and contributions to this state
   58  and to the nation of United States Army General Bryan P. Fenton,
   59  13th Commander of the United States Special Operations Command
   60  at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, are recognized and honored.
   61         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   62  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to General Bryan P.
   63  Fenton as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida
   64  Senate.
