Florida Senate - 2025 (NP) SR 1904 By Senator Brodeur 10-04242-25 20251904__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing and commending the National 3 Conference of State Legislatures on its 50th 4 anniversary in 2025. 5 6 WHEREAS, the National Conference of State Legislatures 7 (NCSL) was founded in 1975 and has evolved during the past half 8 century to become the premier organization dedicated solely to 9 serving state and territorial legislators and legislative staff, 10 and 11 WHEREAS, the NCSL was created from the merger of three 12 organizations that served or represented state legislatures and 13 shared the belief that legislative service is one of democracy’s 14 worthiest pursuits, and 15 WHEREAS, the NCSL is a bipartisan organization with three 16 objectives: to advance the effectiveness, independence, and 17 integrity of state legislatures; to foster interstate 18 communication and cooperation; and to ensure that states have a 19 strong, cohesive voice at the federal level, and 20 WHEREAS, our nation’s legislatures are America’s 21 laboratories of democracy, where people from very different 22 backgrounds and representing very different communities can come 23 together and find common ground, and 24 WHEREAS, the NCSL facilitates the exchange of ideas, 25 provides critical research and information, and encourages a 26 rigorous review of complex issues confronting our communities, 27 states, and nation, and it strives to strengthen the bond 28 between America’s state legislatures and the international 29 community, NOW, THEREFORE, 30 31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 32 33 That the National Conference of State Legislatures is 34 recognized and commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary 35 for its superb leadership and its commitment to the legislative 36 institution. 37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 38 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the National 39 Conference of State Legislatures as a tangible token of the 40 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
