Florida Senate - 2025 SB 900 By Senator Rodriguez 40-00593-25 2025900__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to fees; amending s. 474.208, F.S.; 3 requiring any person desiring to be licensed as a 4 veterinary technician or veterinary technologist to 5 remit an examination fee set by the board; requiring 6 veterinary technicians or veterinary technologists who 7 have certain good standing and credentials desiring to 8 be licensed as such to remit a fee set by the board; 9 providing a contingent effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) and paragraph 14 (a) of subsection (3) of section 474.208, Florida Statutes, as 15 created by SB 898, 2025 Regular Session, are amended to read: 16 474.208 Veterinary technicians and veterinary 17 technologists.— 18 (2) Any person desiring to be licensed as a veterinary 19 technician or veterinary technologist in this state must apply 20 to the department to take a licensure examination. The 21 department shall license each applicant who the board verifies 22 has done all of the following: 23 (a) Completed the application form and remitted an 24 examination fee set by the board. 25 (3) Beginning July 1, 2025, all veterinary technicians and 26 veterinary technologists in good standing with the Florida 27 Veterinary Technician Association or the Florida Veterinary 28 Medical Association and who graduated from a college program of 29 veterinary technology accredited by the AVMA CVTEA before 2024 30 may apply for licensure. The department shall license each 31 veterinary technician and veterinary technologist who the board 32 verifies has done all of the following: 33 (a) Completed the application for licensure and remitted a 34 fee set by the board. 35 Section 2. This act shall take effect on the same date that 36 SB 898 or similar legislation takes effect, if such legislation 37 is adopted in the same legislative session or an extension 38 thereof and becomes a law.
