1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to sales or transfers of firearms to
3 persons under 21 years of age; amending s. 790.065,
4 F.S.; deleting a prohibition on sales or transfers of
5 firearms to persons under 21 years of age and
6 exceptions; providing an effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. Subsection (13) of section 790.065, Florida
11 Statutes, is amended to read:
12 790.065 Sale and delivery of firearms.—
13 (13) A person younger than 21 years of age may not purchase
14 a firearm. The sale or transfer of a firearm to a person younger
15 than 21 years of age may not be made or facilitated by a
16 licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer. A
17 person who violates this subsection commits a felony of the
18 third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083,
19 or s. 775.084. The prohibitions of this subsection do not apply
20 to the purchase of a rifle or shotgun by a law enforcement
21 officer or correctional officer, as those terms are defined in
22 s. 943.10(1), (2), (3), (6), (7), (8), or (9), or a
23 servicemember as defined in s. 250.01.
24 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
