       The Committee on Education Postsecondary (Avila) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 27 - 52
    4  and insert:
    5         (e)General education core courses that integrate the use
    6  of technology must provide students with opportunities to
    7  improve digital literacy and competency, instruction on the
    8  application of artificial intelligence tools to the course, and
    9  related instruction on software engineering, computer networks,
   10  database systems, and cybersecurity, as applicable to the
   11  course.
   12         Section 2. Subsection (6) of section 1007.2616, Florida
   13  Statutes, is amended to read:
   14         1007.2616 Computer science and technology instruction.—
   15         (6) High school students must be provided opportunities to
   16  take computer science courses and earn technology-related
   17  industry certifications to satisfy high school graduation
   18  requirements as provided in s. 1003.4282(3). Computer science
   19  courses and technology-related industry certifications that are
   20  identified as eligible for meeting mathematics or science
   21  requirements for high school graduation must be included in the
   22  Course Code Directory. Computer science courses that include
   23  instruction in artificial intelligence should provide students
   24  with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence to
   25  critically evaluate how artificial intelligence systems use data
   26  to present information; recognize the benefits, limitations, and
   27  potential risks of artificial intelligence; and apply ethical
   28  reasoning to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in
   29  academic and personal contexts.

   32  And the directory clause is amended as follows:
   33         Delete lines 10 - 11
   34  and insert:
   35         Section 1. Present paragraphs (e) through (h) of subsection
   36  (3) of section 1007.25, Florida Statutes, are redesignated as
   37  paragraphs (f) through (i), respectively, and a new paragraph
   38  (e) is added to that subsection, to read:
