       The Committee on Education Pre-K - 12 (Berman) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory and title amendments)
    2  
    3         Between lines 13 and 14
    4  insert:
    5         (3) STANDARD HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA; COURSE AND ASSESSMENT
    6  REQUIREMENTS.—
    7         (f) One credit in physical education.—Physical education
    8  must include the integration of health. Participation in an
    9  interscholastic sport at the junior varsity or varsity level for
   10  two full seasons shall satisfy the one-credit requirement in
   11  physical education. A district school board may not require that
   12  the one credit in physical education be taken during the 9th
   13  grade year. Completion of 2 years of marching band shall satisfy
   14  the one-credit requirement in physical education and or the one
   15  credit requirement in performing arts. This credit may not be
   16  used to satisfy the personal fitness requirement or the
   17  requirement for adaptive physical education under an individual
   18  education plan (IEP) or 504 plan. Completion of one semester
   19  with a grade of “C” or better in a marching band class, in a
   20  physical activity class that requires participation in marching
   21  band activities as an extracurricular activity, or in a dance
   22  class shall satisfy one-half credit in physical education or
   23  one-half credit in performing arts. This credit may not be used
   24  to satisfy the personal fitness requirement or the requirement
   25  for adaptive physical education under an IEP or 504 plan.
   26  Completion of 2 years in a Reserve Officer Training Corps
   27  (R.O.T.C.) class, a significant component of which is drills,
   28  shall satisfy the one-credit requirement in physical education
   29  and the one-credit requirement in performing arts. This credit
   30  may not be used to satisfy the personal fitness requirement or
   31  the requirement for adaptive physical education under an IEP or
   32  504 plan.

   36         Delete lines 11 - 12
   37  and insert:
   38         Section 1. Paragraph (f) of subsection (3) and paragraph
   39  (b) of subsection (8) of section 1003.4282, Florida Statutes,
   40  are amended to read:
