The Committee on Regulated Industries (Mayfield) recommended the
following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete lines 45 - 70
4 and insert:
5 institutions for graduates of accredited or approved engineering
6 programs.
7 (2) To be eligible for the program, a candidate must meet
8 the following requirements:
9 (a) Have graduated from an accredited or approved
10 engineering program.
11 (b) Have received a Florida license as a professional
12 engineer or a professional engineer intern.
13 (c) Be currently employed by a state agency or water
14 management district.
15 (3) Program funds are derived from the Professional
16 Regulation Trust Fund.
17 (4) From the funds available, the management corporation
18 may make loan principal repayments of up to $4,000 a year for up
19 to 4 years on behalf of selected graduates who meet the
20 requirements of subsection (2), beginning after each selected
21 graduate’s first year of employment. All repayments are
22 contingent upon continued proof of employment in a designated
23 state agency or water management district and must be made
24 directly to the holder of the loan. The state bears no
25 responsibility for the collection of any interest charges or
26 other remaining balance.
27 (5) Eligibility is not affected by a change in employment,
28 provided that the participant remains employed by a state agency
29 or a water management district.
