    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to mandatory remand to custody upon
    3         conviction of dangerous crimes; providing a short
    4         title; creating s. 903.0472, F.S.; requiring a court
    5         to remand a person found guilty of a dangerous crime
    6         to custody immediately; requiring such person to
    7         remain in custody pending sentencing or further
    8         proceedings without the possibility of release on
    9         bond; prohibiting a court from granting postconviction
   10         bond or other release for a person found guilty of a
   11         dangerous crime; providing applicability; providing an
   12         effective date.
   13          
   14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   15  
   16         Section 1. This act may be cited as “Missy’s Law.”
   17         Section 2. Section 903.0472, Florida Statutes, is created
   18  to read:
   19         903.0472Mandatory remand to custody upon conviction of
   20  dangerous crimes.—
   21         (1)Notwithstanding any provision in this chapter to the
   22  contrary, upon a finding of guilt of any person of a dangerous
   23  crime as defined in s. 907.041(5)(a), the court shall remand the
   24  person to custody immediately, and the person shall remain in
   25  custody pending sentencing or further proceedings without the
   26  possibility of release on bond.
   27         (2)A court may not grant postconviction bond or other
   28  release for a person who has been found guilty of, or who has
   29  entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to, a dangerous
   30  crime as defined in s. 907.041(5)(a).
   31         (3)This section applies regardless of whether the person
   32  intends to appeal or has filed a notice of appeal.
   33         (4)This section does not apply if the finding of guilt
   34  that formed the basis of the remand has been:
   35         (a)Vacated;
   36         (b)Reversed on appeal;
   37         (c)Set aside by judgment of acquittal; or
   38         (d)Otherwise nullified.
   39         Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026.
