LEGISLATURE RESTORES FUNDING FOR POLK STATE COLLEGE IN SPECIAL SESSION

Tallahassee —

Senator Denise Grimsley (R-Lake Placid) released the following statement on the restoration of $3 million for the expansion of the arts program at Polk State College:

“I am very pleased the Legislature restored funding for Polk State College during Special Session. The veto of $3 million would have had a severe negative impact on this pillar of the Polk County community and economy. Had these funds not been restored, the Lake Wales campus would have been closed, depriving countless individuals in our community the opportunity to receive a quality education. I want to thank the citizens of Polk County and the members of the Polk County delegation - Senator Stargel and Representatives Albritton, Burton, Combee, Killebrew, and La Rosa - for making our voices heard and fighting to restore funding for the college.”
