House . . . . . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senator Latvala moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment to Amendment (495738) (with title 2 amendment) 3 4 Delete lines 23 - 41 5 and insert: 6 (15)(a) Except as provided by this section, the department 7 may not designate trauma centers in addition to those designated 8 as of April 25, 2013 in: 9 1. A county where a Level I trauma center operates as of 10 April 25, 2013; or 11 2. A location within 8 miles by ground transport of an 12 existing Level I trauma center; or 13 3. A location within 45 miles by ground transport of a 14 Level I trauma center that is owned and operated by a statutory 15 teaching hospital as of April 25, 2013. 16 (b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), the department shall 17 designate additional trauma centers that meet the applicable 18 trauma center standards if: 19 1. The hospital that seeks designation as a Level II trauma 20 center is not located within 8 miles by ground transport of an 21 existing Level I trauma center and demonstrates a formal trauma 22 affiliation agreement with a hospital located in the same county 23 that is designated as a Level I trauma center as of April 25, 24 2013; 25 2. The hospital that seeks designation as a Level I trauma 26 center was designated as a Level II trauma center as of January 27 1, 1999, and is owned and operated by a statutory teaching 28 hospital; or 29 3. The hospital that seeks designation as a trauma center 30 is located within 45 miles by ground transport of a hospital 31 that, as of April 25, 2013, has a Level I trauma center and is 32 owned and operated by a statutory teaching hospital and: 33 a. Demonstrates that it will share a license number and 34 license certificate number with the statutory teaching hospital; 35 or 36 b. Demonstrates a formal trauma affiliation agreement with 37 the statutory teaching hospital. 38 (c) Any formal trauma affiliation agreement required by 39 this section must be in compliance with statutory requirements 40 to maintain an inclusive trauma system and must address the 41 acceptance of all medically necessary transfers, clinical 42 protocols, and other clinical arrangements appropriate for the 43 continuity of high-quality care. 44 45 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 46 And the title is amended as follows: 47 Delete lines 74 - 75 48 and insert: 49 designating additional trauma centers in certain 50 locations; providing an exception under certain
