Project Description:

The Health Education and Outreach Program provides a comphrensive community-based strategy to address HIV/AIDS and substance abuse-the twin epidemics of that continue to be a pervasive threat to public health.� In keeping with the holistic approach for addressing the needs of the clients in the Center and surrounding community, the program has implemented a culturally appropriate health education and outreach program for high-risk persons with a specific priority on serving south St. Petersburg.� The goal of the program will be to reduce the risk of becoming infected or, if infected, of transmitting the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), TB, Hepatitis and STDs.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

A reduction of HIV risk behaviors by 25% of high-risk populations reached by the program.
