Project Description:

(Include services to be provided) The terminal roadway project is a two level interchange that provides ingress and egress for the airport. The interchange is mainly on FDOT right-of-way.The new interchange will require southbound traffic from I-595 and U.S.1, which represents 80 percent of all incoming airport traffic, to make a 270 degree loop, which then provides improved weave and merge distances allowing substantial improvement to airport access from I-95/I-595 and local and state highways.

The new entrance loop will replace the existing entrance bridges by merging the southbound and northbound traffic on single alignment grade which creates an overpass leading into the airport. The effect on flow will be a natural slowing of traffic, which is necessary for safety and adequate decision time as traffic approaches the terminal complex. The roadway project will provide for direct access into the new parking garage as well.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The project is on the State right of way and serves over 13.5 million passengers (traveling public)_ to and from the airport. Smooth travel to the airport by the 13.5 million passengers is the measureable outcome.
