Project Description:

The Tri-County Biosolids Pelletization Facility is a wastewater sludge pellitizing facility that will eliminate landspreading of sludge by thirteen utilities in environmentally sensitive watersheds in Okeechobee, Hendry, Martin and St. Lucie counties.� The facility will accept biosolids from wastewater treatment facilities in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.� The biosolids will be dried, pelletized and incorporated into fertilizer that will be distributed throughout the southeastern United States.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The anticipated outcome of this project is to eliminate phosphorus loading by the thirteen participating utilities in the environmentally sensitive basins due to landspreading of wastewater sludge.� 100% of biosolids that are currently being landspread in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties will be diverted to the proposed facility.� An estimated 4,100 tons of phosphorus per year will be removed from the watersheds over the next 20 years.
