The Tri-County Biosolids Pelletization Facility is a wastewater sludge pellitizing facility that will eliminate landspreading of sludge by thirteen utilities in environmentally sensitive watersheds in Okeechobee, Hendry, Martin and St. Lucie counties. The facility will accept biosolids from wastewater treatment facilities in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. The biosolids will be dried, pelletized and incorporated into fertilizer that will be distributed throughout the southeastern United States.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The anticipated outcome of this project is to eliminate phosphorus loading by the thirteen participating utilities in the environmentally sensitive basins due to landspreading of wastewater sludge.100% of biosolids that are currently being landspread in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties will be diverted to the proposed facility. An estimated 4,100 tons of phosphorus per year will be removed from the watersheds over the next 20 years.
