Statewide Interest:

This project provides the potential for reducing loss of life and property by providing the fundemental elements needed to identify existing structures in floodprone areas, evaluation of the risk of flooding and establishing current finished floor elevation data needed to keep future structures out of (or at least above) floodplains. Using this process, floodplains can be identified, a risk assesment performed to identify affected properties and persons, and flood elevations periodically updated to reflect additional impervious areas associated with subsequent permitted development activities; thereby mitigating future loses of life and property.

Project Description:

The general purpose of this project is to provide a comprehensive databank of floodprone properities with the necessary analysis and planning tools to support the overall Local Mitigation Strategy. The project is based on the 2001 Flyover Project with the additional enhancement directly related to the Local Mitigation Strategy. The results of this effort would assist in the identification and prioritization of properities to be pyrchased as part of teh locally funded Blueprint 2000 Project.
