Project Description:

To better understand the cause(s) and� ecological impacts of these harmful seaweed blooms, Harbor Branch proposes to survey and sample impacted and reference� areas using underwater vehicles digital video and SCUBA to: Document the extent of damage by harmful algal blooms to economically valuable ecosystems; identify the various sources of the nitrogen that are believed to be feeding these harmful blooms.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Identification of nutrient sources allowing implementation of management policies that can restore reef health and related ecotourism.
