Project Description:

To provide college scholarships to economically disadvantaged at-risk students.� STARS (Scholarship Tuition for At-Risk Students) has a 96% success rate.� The $10 million from 45 private organizations to purchase 3,500 scholarships.� Students agree to stay drug-and-crime free to earn their scholarship.� More than 12,500 scholarships have been purchased through the Foundation with the help of state funds totaling more than $22 million and private matching dollars.� Project STARS serves as a national model for reducing the dropout rate and for preparing students for college.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Providing approximately 3,500 scholarships a year to economically disadvantaged at-risk students will positively change the lives of these students.� Targeted students have a 60% chance of dropping out of high school by the 10th grade before STARS enters their lives, yet the program recipients have a 96% college graduation rate.
