This project will provide support for the implementation of the recommendations of a municipal stormwater master plan that is intended to produce measurable results in near-shore water quality.� Pursuant to the FKNMS Water Quality Protection Program Document (1996), stormwater sources contribute about 21% of total wastewater/stormwater nitrogen and 44% of total wastewater stormwater phosphorus loadings to Sanctuary waters.� In 1999, the Florida Legislature acknowledged the impacts associated with stormwater discharges to near-shore communities in the Florida Keys.

The project is to implement the recommendations of a Village stormwater master plan which is to design and construct stormwater systems where there are currently none.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Completion of the project will reduce stormwater impacts and produce improvements to the near-shore water quality and assist the Village in meeting the requirements of its Comprehensive Plan.
