Project Description:

State of Florida to join with Manatee County, City of Bradenton, and Federal government to address flood control problems around Wares Creek in central part of County.� This project is to be performed in conjunction with and as a component of the greater Wares Creek Flood Control Project to remove excessive sedimentation occurring below mean high tide at the mouth of Wares Creek.� These accumulated sediments impede flood flow creating upstream flooding.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Estimated average annual flood damages within incorporated Manatee County and the City of Bradenton without the project are $6,700,000. Annual flood damages with the project are reduced to $2,860,000,yeilding a federal benefit/cost ration of greater than 3.3:1,2,684 structures are impacted during the 10-year storm event without the project with estimated damages exceeding $22 million.
