Project Description:

There is a tremendous demand for Dental services to the uninsured, financially challenged and indigent population in Manatee and DeSoto Counties. There are only 3 Dental Practices in Manatee County that see more than 100 Medicaid patients per year.MCRHS has the lion's share of patients with over 2200 people annually. Our dentists conduct nearly 6000 patients visits per year.Currently there is a 6 week waiting period for New Adult patients to be seen and an 8 week wait for children.Medicaid only pays for extractions for adults, so the need for discounted comphrehensive dental services is even greater for adults.MCRHS is the only Dental Office in Manatee County that offers a sliding fee scale for financially eligible patients. There is a need to fund additional Dental professionals and Operatories for Dental services at MCRHS.An additional Dentist, a hygeneist, and 2 more operatories will allow us to increase our patient contact to nearly 10,000 per year.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Increase the dental services available to needy patients in Manatee County. An additional 1200-1500 patients could be served in Manatee County.
