Project Description:

Legislation is being filed this session (see SB 1602 and HB 1457 from 2000 session) to create a Regional Cultural Facility Grant Program.� Each facility that applies would be eligible for a $2.5 million grant as specified in the legislation.� This grant program will fund large cultural facilities as well as state owned facilities for construction and renovation needs.� The bill setting up the program passed the full House and Senate last session unanimously, but died on the last day due to time restraints. �It creates a process by which facilities can receive state funds complying with the Governor's request for funding accountability.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The State of Florida cna expect revitalized areas surrounding cultural facilities such as the downtown Miami site, with a resurgence of economic activity and tourism adding a constant source of revenue for state funds.
