Project Description:

This project will provide specialized vocational training for youth transitioning from foster care placement to independent living.� Training will be based on the successful curricula for Youthbuild USA and the SuperLube vocational training program at Greenville Hills Academy.� Youth enrolled in the project will acquire a GED if they have not completed high school.� State funding will be used to purchase initial equipment and suppplies for the program.� The recipient will provide curriculum, facilities and instructors as an in-kind match.� Vocational instruction will be provided in basic carpentry, building trades and automotive mechanics.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Youth graduating from the project will have a high school diploma or GED, be placed in gainful employment and secure independent housing.� Youth will not receive public assistance or be involved in the criminal justice system for one year after graduation.
