Project Description:

Dredging the Miami River will be completed by the Army Corps of Engineers as the project coordinator and the non-federal partner is Miami-Dade County.� Dredging will remove contaminated sediments from the river and as part of this project the sediments will be transported to a class III landfill for disposal.� The non-federal partner basically helps define the scope of the project with the Corps and must provide lands necessary for the conduct of the project and cost share funding.� Funding cost share is federal-80%; non-federal sponsor-20%.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Clean river with the federal channel fully maintained for depth and width.� Clear river will stimulate economic development along the river and a maintained navigation channel will improve shipping commerce and international trade, creating new jobs.
