||
The Broward Sheriff's Office conducts all investigations into allegations of child abuse, neglect or abandonment within Broward County. The process includes the removal of children from the home in� serious cases, placement with the Department of Children and Families for temporary shelter care.� Coordinating with DCF for the placement of in-home services where necessary and providing of information to law enforcement to insure appropriate review of allegations that may be criminal in nature.� In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001 BSO handled over 14,000 initial and additional reports called in by the abuse hotline. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |

||||
Investigations completed within 60 days - target goal of 100%.� Cases commenced within 24 hours - target goal of 100%. Supervisory review to insure early warning indicators are acted upon - target goal of 100%.� Reduction in backlog cases over 60 days old to the state goal of below 75% of cases received in a 30 day period.� Timely and appropriate removal of all children in all cases.� Adequate referral of in-home services as needed in all cases.� Maintain 100% of investigator staffing to insure the industry standard of 12 new investigations per month for each active investigator. |
