Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Broward Sheriff's Office conducts all investigations into allegations of child abuse, neglect or abandonment within Broward County. The process includes the removal of children from the home inserious cases, placement with the Department of Children and Families for temporary shelter care.Coordinating with DCF for the placement of in-home services where necessary and providing of information to law enforcement to insure appropriate review of allegations that may be criminal in nature.In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001 BSO handled over 14,000 initial and additional reports called in by the abuse hotline.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Investigations completed within 60 days - target goal of 100%.Cases commenced within 24 hours - target goal of 100%. Supervisory review to insure early warning indicators are acted upon - target goal of 100%.Reduction in backlog cases over 60 days old to the state goal of below 75% of cases received in a 30 day period.Timely and appropriate removal of all children in all cases.Adequate referral of in-home services as needed in all cases.Maintain 100% of investigator staffing to insure the industry standard of 12 new investigations per month for each active investigator.
