Statewide Interest: |
The proposed early intervention program will provide services to developmentally disabled children who do not have adequate funding for treatment. The early
intervention treatment will assist in allowing children to remain in their family homes as opposed to needing to be placed in out of home residential
facilities. This will greatly decrease future funding needed from the strained budget of the Department of Children and Families Developmental Disabilities Program and Med-Waiver.

Project Description: |
: Devereux will establish an early intervention program for children who are diagnosed with developmental disabilities or those who are at risk for such problems. This program will utilize the following strategies:
? State-of-the-art treatment techniques that have been tested and validated by scientists and practitioners across the country
? Participating psychiatrists to assist the children with medication management
? Multi-disciplinary team of professionals, such as language specialists and occupational therapists, which will provide for a comprehensive approach (bi-lingual clinicians available)
? Treatment to occur in the home, school, and community environments
This program is unique in that there will be a "service center" wherein all of the services will be based at one location. Moreover, the target area will be Osceola County, in which many of these services are not currently available.
