CBIRS Request 1414

Community Budget Issue Requests - Tracking Id #1414
City of LaBelle Water Plant Improvement

Requester: Sharon Craichy, Mayor Organization: City of LaBelle

Project Title: City of LaBelle Water Plant Improvement Date Submitted 1/14/2003 10:35:23 PM

Sponsors: Bullard

Statewide Interest:
Since the maximum contamination level for TTHM has been lowered by the EPA and the FDEP the city was forced to change our treatment process to meet the new standards. Because of this change the water color is very dark, sometimes yellow. Residents are not comfortable with the color. As a result residents are buying water. It is a health issue with some residents. The State awarded a grant to the ciy that allows us to inject floride into the drinking water. Since we have many LMI and Farm workers it is important that the drinking water problem not increase the burden for dental repairs on the Health Dept.
