Project Description:
The CASTLE has been at the forefront of abuse prevention in the four county area for 21 years. The services offered by the CASTLE have been replicated in 107 centers in 26 states around the country. The CASTLE is a national and local leader in operating and designing child abuse prevention programs. Our goal is to protect children fron abuse by building strong and stable families, resulting in the best outcome for the children at risk. CASTLE programs fit well into a continuum of care for children, and offer a servie not available through anyone else in the four county area. CASTLE programs operate at about 1/2 the cost standard home based prevention porgrams, are outcome driven, and consistently receive solid monitoring reviews from oversight agencies.

Is this a water project as described in Chapter 2002-291, Laws of Florida? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The number of children abused and neglected has dropped in the four county area covered by the CASTLE during the period from 1999 to 2001. The collaboration among agencies in this area has been described by Ted Granger, President, United Way of Florida as "the best in the state." 95% of families enrolled in CASTLE programs do not enter or re-enter the system for up to one year after services have been completed. 94% of enrolled families demonstrate a significant improvement in parenting skills as measured by a standardized pre-post test.
