This project will reduce pollution in Santa Rosa Sound and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, a designated Outstanding Florida Water Body. It will do so in compliance with the county's Wastewater Facility Plan and a locally adopted wastewater-stormwater quality improvement plan.

Project Description:
This project will convey up to 7 million gallons daily of reclaimed water from Navarre Beach, Holley, Navarre and the South Santa Rosa Utilities Reclaimed Water Facilities to rapid rate infiltration basins constructed on 200-plus inland acres on the Eglin Air Force Base Reservation.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
By diverting discharge from the Navarre Beach area, Santa Rosa Sound should meet the "swimmable/fishable" standard for all waters. Further, the discharge is currently less than 24 hours travel time to Class II waters that are approved for shellfish harvesting. Diverting the discharge will protect the quality of shellfish consumed by humans.
