Statewide Interest:
The Adolscent Residential Assessment Program would serve high-risk, underserved adolescents and their families whose incomes are at or below the federal poverty level (at time of admission) with substance abuse and behavioral health care problems. Such a program will serve to reduce juvenile crime and the cost of incarceration, reduce the negative behavior in students and problems in the schools, such as truancy, violence and anti-social behavior. Such a program will benefit the community and schools through greater improved adolescent function at home, in school and in the community at large. It would mean an increase in family stability and a strengthening of the overall community.
