| Project Description: |
| The current Hernando Beach Channel is substandard in depth and width. With the addition of a large fishing fleet it has become inadequate and dangerous. Funds from this appropriation will implement a plan designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that will create a channel that will strengthen and encourage the economic stability of the entire region. |

| The channel will be a 13,500 foot long channel with a depth increased from the current 4.5 feet to 6 feet at mean low water. Additionally, the channel bottom width will increase from 60 feet to 85 feet. The construction project is expected to remove approsimately 300,000 cubic yards of material. |
