| Project Description: |
| Acquisition of a second highly significant parcel located on the Gulf of Mexico in northwest Pinellas County contiguous to Wall Springs. The site consists of a great diversity of intact natural systems, including saltwater wetlands and globally imperiled sandhill ecosystem. This is the last remaining xeric habitat of significant size and ecological condition in Pinellas County. It includes mangrove forest, shallow saltwater flats used by wading birds and serving as important fisheries nursery grounds. Additionally the site includes flatwoods with mature slash pines used by osprey and horned owls as nestury trees with significant recreational opportunities. |
