This project provides services to high-risk substance abusers who disproportionately utilize high cost publicly funded services. The project provides research data that advises policy-makers as to the cost-effectiveness of provideing aftercare to substance abusers. This project serves as a statewide pilot research site regarding the positive outcomes produced in providing aftercare services to individuals completing substance abuse residential treatment

Project Description:
In 2001, Serenity House implemented this project to provide specialized aftercare services to high-risk substance abusers completing residential treatment. This program provides housing, case management,counseling and advocacy to stabalize the gains clients have achieved in high cost residential treatment programs. This program interrupts the "revolving" syndrome for individuals completing treatment. Outcome and cost effectiveness data (attached) indicate the significant impact of this program upon employment, arrests, hospitalizations, and successful completion.

1. 75% of clients with children will be re-unified with their children upon completing the program; 2. 85% will successfully complete program; 3. 85% of clients eligible for employment will be employed upon completion; 85% will be drug free after completing the program
