Project Description:
E.Y.U. is in the process of expanding it's programs and moving into a facility that will become a multi-purpose center. E.Y.U. will provide services to their families and neighborhood with the opening of the Family Service Center for Advanced Learning. The overall goal of E.Y.U. is to help families, neighborhoods, the City of St. Petersburg, and businesss in what ever capacity it can. The program will be located at 700 43rd Street South, in St. Petersburg, Florida. This building is currently occupied by E.Y.U. with a lease/buy option. The builidng is a two-story 7000 square foot facility and all of E.Y.U.'s programming will take place on the second floor. After several discussions with the Executive Director's of the Juvenile Welfare Board and the Boys and Girls Club of the Florida Suncoast, it has been determined E.Y.U. is in a unique position to open up the first floor to other social service programs that will offer services to the youth and families of the community. For example, the Boys and Girs Club may sublet space to run their Eagle Program, while DCF may occupy another suite, a children and family counselor another suite, Neighborly Senior Services in another. In order for the program to be holistic in approach, E.Y.U. will spend the next four to five months conducting commmunity town meetings in order to determine exactly what programs the community deems needed and to be accessible. With funding support for this grant, E.Y.U. will be able to cover rental cost thorough December which will allow time to conduct several town hall meetings, planning sessions, community and agency training session, and ultimatly securely place other programs in the building which will cover the overhead cost.
