Project Description: |
South Florida Jail Ministries (SFJM), through the Agape Family Ministries, has provided effective addictions treatment, recovery services, and family restoration in Miami-Dade and adjacent Counties during the past nineteen years. Agape Family Ministries is planning on renovating and expanding the existing areas used for its Mother and Child Program, Day Care Facility and Clinic. Agape recognizes the long-term recovery and stability from substance abuse, mental illness, criminality, and homeleness requires alternative programming to the traditional models of treatment and rehabilitation. The most effective way to change lives is being able to offer services to our clients. Agape will continue to operate as a nonprofit, and non-sectarian provider of services to underserved individuals and families.
Agape Family Ministries is requesting capital dollars in the amount of ($150,000) for construction and renovation of the space used for the Mother and Child Program, Day Care and the Clinic. Providing enhanced facilities for these areas would significantly improve the health and welfare of the family structure needed for the rehabilitation of our clients. This program would offer additional parental skills, training, growth and development issues instruction, and family reunification protocols for the women with children.
This project has statewide impact in that crime is reduced and the women served are from all counties throughout the state. Agape has been successful in blending the efforts of state and local government with grassroots community support. |
